Doyle New York's Important Estate Jewelry auction on October 11, 2007
saw competitive bidding from hundreds of buyers in the salesroom, on the
telephones, and on the Internet. This international competition resulted
in strong prices throughout the sale and an auction total of $2,801,762

by lot and by value. Market demand has never been greater for quality
jewelry from private collections and estates.
Highlighting the sale was an extraordinary emerald and diamond necklace

$52,000, well over the pre-sale estimate of $30,000-40,000. An unsigned
gold, multi-colored sapphire and diamond necklace/clip-brooch
combination proved popular at the sale. Bidding soared past the pre-sale
estimate of $25,000-35,000 to achieve $79,000. From the Estate of
Harriette Gifford was a pair of diamond cluster earclips that sold for a
strong $46,000 against a pre-sale estimate of $18,000-24,000.
