AUCTION HIGHLIGHTS
THE
CORELLA BONNER COLLECTION
Among the highlights of the auction will be exquisite jewelry
from the estate of philanthropist and businesswoman, Corella
Allen Bonner (1910-2003). A resident of Princeton Borough,
New Jersey, Mrs. Bonner was the wife of Bertram F. Bonner,
a prominent developer whose interests extended from Massachusetts
to Florida. In 1989, they created the Bonner Foundation, a
philanthropic organization that has awarded over $100 million,
and is one of the largest private scholarship programs in
America.
The Bonner Collection comprises over twenty lots of exquisite
jewelry created by Tiffany & Co. in the 1940s. Highlights
include a diamond pendant necklace and earclips by Tiffany
& Co. in a timeless design of three graduated diamonds
(est. of necklace $20,000-30,000; earclips $15,000-25,000).
Matching these is a line bracelet set with 22 diamonds
($25,000-35,000). The pieces feature diamonds of exceptional
quality. Other notable lots include a pair of elegant Edwardian
style sapphire and diamond earrings with a matching pendant
necklace by Tiffany & Co. The pendant necklace is centered
by a stunning 4 carat pear-shaped diamond. The Bonner Collection
also includes a Tiffany & Co. pendant necklace set with
a 20 carat aquamarine enhanced with diamonds, a ladies diamond
and aquamarine wristwatch, and a large selection of gold jewelry.
JEWELRY
FROM OTHER OWNERS
Highlighting the jewelry from other collections is a spectacular
Art Deco bracelet set with over 20 carats of diamonds
(est. $30,000-40,000). Also from the Art Deco period is a
geometric design diamond brooch. Other offerings include a
pair of diamond flower earclips by Graff each centered
by a natural fancy yellow diamond (est. $15,000-20,000). Certain
to attract interest is an elegant ruby and diamond necklace
with matching earclips. Popular with bidders will be signature
designs by David Webb, including a panther pin with
zebra enameling and a pair of zebra enameled earrings.
The
December auction offers a wide selection of diamond engagement
rings, perfect for adding a unique touch to that special occasion.
The assortment includes diamonds in a variety of cuts and
sizes with estimates beginning at $1,000 and going up to $25,000
for a ring set with a 4.93 carat diamond.
WATCHES
AND GENTLEMENS' ACCESSORIES
Fine watches in the sale are highlighted by an unusual diamond
'mystery dial' wristwatch by Longines with seemingly
floating arms. Among the accessories for gentlemen are a variety
of cufflinks, including a reverse intaglio pair with a hunting
theme, and a handsome mother-of-pearl and cultured pearl dress
set.
