AUCTION: December 11-13, 2001

The international fashion and auction worlds converged at Doyle New York's Fashion Week - six days of exhibitions and auctions offering a century of important Couture, Costume Jewelry, Bakelite and Accessories. The auctions, which took place on December 11, 12 and 13, drew hundreds of bidders from North and South America, Europe and Asia, including prominent social figures, fashion designers, Hollywood celebrities, museum curators and important dealers. Among the sales' highlights were the Couture Collection of noted designer Charles Kleibacker, and an extraordinary single-owner collection of important Costume Jewelry and Bakelite. Intense competition in the crowded salesrooms, as well as telephone bidding from around the world, drove the total of the sales to a stunning $1,887,309 against a pre-auction estimate of $844,690-1,213,575.
