Strong Competition for Property from a Variety of Estates and Collections

Doyle New York will held an auction of Coins, Bank Notes and Postage Stamps on November 3, 2008. The sale showcased property from a variety of prominent estates and private collections. With competitive bidding from buyers in the salesroom, on the telephones and via the Internet, the sale totaled $273,996, surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $201,000-267,650 with a surprisingly strong $92% sold by lot and 100% by value.

Contained in five albums, comprising one Scott National with a nice range of useful stamps including Scott #1, 17, and 32, used, good selection of Bank Notes 72, 73, mint, two 76, three 78, 166, used, Columbians to 50c. with 30c. being o.g. thinned, 1900 Commemoratives, Airpost C1-6, a few back of the book issues with most of the unused being stuck to the pages and a few Confederate and Fractional notes; one book of covers with a small correspondence bearing the 1851 3c. reds mostly faulty, a few 1930/40 FDC's; two stock books of miscellaneous and two Jr. Internationals with a scattering of issues. Condition is mixed and personal viewing is recommended.

United States are primarily mint, contained in five Scott albums, comprising definitive and commemorative singles dated from the 1890s to 1995, including Columbians to 15c., unused, a few Washington-Franklins, 518 l.h., White Plains sheet l.h., Kansas and Nebraska sets and Prexies complete, Air Post complete to 1985 with Zeppelins being unused no gum, also a few B.O.B. issues. The Plate blocks beginning in 1932 through 1995 include Winter Olympics, Webster, Georgia, Baseball, Army/Navy and Overrun Nations and a few booklets dated from 1975 to 1986, and three volumes of miscellaneous U.S. The foreign stamps, contained in four albums, contain a few German Semies from the early 1940s and 1970s FDC from Austria and Germany. Interesting group in mixed Good to Very Fine condition.
