Two of today’s leading voices in residential design, architect Gil Schafer and
designer David Netto, will discuss American contemporary classical architecture.
Their conversation, illustrated with slides from their recent projects,
will include the renovation of a Charles Platt house in Nashville, TN, on which they
collaborated. They will also share their insights into residential design today.
Following the presentation will be a book signing reception celebrating the publication
of Schafer's new book, The Great American House: Tradition for the Way We Live Now (Rizzoli).
This lavishly illustrated book profiles some of Schafer’s acclaimed projects.
Archivia Books will sell copies of
the book at the event.

Award-winning architect and AD 100 member Gil Schafer is recognized as one of the leading practitioners of contemporary classical architecture. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor and The New York Times. He was president and then chairman of The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art.
David Netto has been named one of House Beautiful's top 100 Designers, and his projects have been published frequently in magazines such as Vogue and Elle Décor. He is currently contributing design editor for The Wall Street Journal and has published over 40 articles on architecture and decoration in Off Duty and WSJ Magazine.
