Strong Prices for Vintage Costume Jewelry by Chanel, Iradj Moini and Others
On November 3, 2009, Doyle New York held The High Society Sale, featuring vintage costume jewelry by such prestigious makers as Chanel, Iradj Moini, Gripoix and Yves St. Laurent, and elegant accessories, hand bags and luggage by Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Judith Leiber. With strong competition from the crowded salesroom and bidders via the telephones and Internet, the auction totaled $312,064, surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $195,710-286,045, with 89% sold by lot and 97% sold by value.
