We Invite You to Contact Us for a Complimentary Auction Evaluation of Your Asian Works of Art
Doyle New York's Asian Works of Art auction on September 10, 2012 attracted strong competition from an international audience of bidders in the salesroom, on the telephones, and live on the Internet. The auction offered over 550 lots showcasing the arts of China, Japan and Southeast Asia from the Neolithic Period through the 20th century. Offerings included porcelain and pottery, jades, scholar’s objects, bronzes, screens, furniture and paintings.
Highlighting the sale was a Chinese gilt-bronze Buddha from the Qing Dynasty measuring 9 inches in height. Strong competition sent the bidding soaring past its estimate of $12,000-18,000 to achieve $80,500 from a North American buyer. Chinese porcelains featured a Kangxi Period blue and white glazed vase of rouleau form and measuring 18 inches in height. Estimated at $800-1,200, the vase fetched a strong $56,250 from buyer in China.
With competitive bidding, the sale totaled a strong $1,567,645 against a pre-sale estimate of $1,554,600-2,305,500 with 61% sold by lot and 70% by value.
All prices include the Buyer’s Premium.
