Featuring Works by American, European, Asian and Latin American Artists of the 20th and 21st Centuries
On November 10, 2010, Doyle New York held a successful auction of Modern & Contemporary Art. The sale showcased paintings, drawings and sculpture by important European, American, Latin American and Asian artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Strong international competitive bidding from the salesroom, the telephones and the Internet drove prices throughout the sale.
Chinese artist Chen Danqing’s depiction of The Country Girls sold for $56,250. American artist Jack Roth’s colorful 1980 abstract, Rope Dancer #11, fetched a surprisingly strong $46,875. A group of works by American sports artist Leroy Neiman achieved strong prices, with Surfer, 1967 selling for $43,750; Constellation, Oyster Bay, 1967 selling for $37,500; and Dr. J, 1975 also selling for $37,500.
