Doyle New York’s November 1, 2010 auction of Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints will showcase original prints from the 17th through the 21st centuries, in addition to a selection of posters. Old Master prints typically feature works by such important artists as Rembrandt, Durer and Goya. Works by Modern European masters offer examples by such artists as Picasso, Chagall, Matisse and Miro. American prints may include fine examples by Whistler, Cassatt, Childe Hassam, Thomas Hart Benton, Martin Lewis and Grant Wood. Contemporary prints are highlighted by artists such as Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. This sale may also feature posters by such leading artists as Bonnard, Cheret, Mucha and Toulouse-Lautrec.

Color lithograph, 1899, before the letters, printed by Charle Verneau, Paris, laid on a support sheet laid on linen, a central horizontal fold (with some associated splitting, creasing and tears with some filling-in), a few creases and tears (longest 5/8 inch, extending into the borderline) in the margins, some unobtrusive spots of pale discoloration, a a small loss at top right sheet corner, otherwise in good condition, with (full?) margins, framed.
