Getting Started
Please verify you are using the Minimum System Requirements before you get started1. Create an account at DoyleNewYork.com
You must create an account at DoyleNewYork.com to “BidLive!”. Click here to register now
If you already have an account set up at DoyleNewYork.com, sign in.
If you aren’t sure if you have an account at DoyleNewYork.com, go to the “Forgot Password” form and enter your email address. Your PIN or Password will be emailed to you. If you do not receive an email, you must create an account.
2. Register for a specific auction
Click the “BidLive!” icon next to any auction listing on our web site to register for that specific auction. Or Click the red “BidLive!” icon at the very top the page to see the list of upcoming auctions, then click the “Get Approved to Bid” link next to the auction in which you wish to bid. You will be taken to the auction registration form.
2a. The Registration Form
Once you have signed in, your contact information will already be on the form.
Enter your credit card information. This information is for reference only. We do not take credit cards for payment, nor will your card be charged at any time. This page on DoyleNewYork.com is secure and safe to transmit your information.
Check the box next to “I agree to the above terms”
Click the Submit Button. Your registration will be processed and your status will be listed under “My Live! Auctions"
3. On the day of the auction
Go to DoyleNewYork.com
Sign In
Click the red "BidLive!" button at the top of the page
Click the "BID NOW!" next to the auction listing to open the Bidding Console
(Please Note: If you open the Bidding Console before the auction begins, you must keep refreshing the page until the Bidding Console activates)

Requesting a Higher Credit Limit
The standard credit limit is $3,000. You may request a higher credit limit only after registering for a specific auction. Go to "My Live! Auctions". The auctions for which you are registered will be listed along with your credit limit. Click the link "Contact Doyle New York" to the right of the listing. Choose "Bid Limit" from the menu. Enter a message with your credit request and submit. You will receive an email from our Client Services department with further instructions. Come back to “My Live! Auctions” to check the status of your request.
My Messages
Where do I find messages from Doyle New York?
Messages between you and Doyle New York will appear in "Bid Live!" "My Live! Messages".
To access messages from Doyle New York, sign in. The "Bid Live!" "My Live! Messages" Inbox will open. Click the Subject line to read each message.
How can I see a message I sent to Doyle New York?
You can see email messages between you and Doyle New York in "Bid Live!" "My Live! Messages".
To see messages you sent to Doyle New York, sign in. The "Bid Live!" "My Live! Messages" Inbox will open. Click the View drop-down menu and choose Sent. If you have sent any messages, they will appear.
My Auctions
How can I see if I have been approved to bid?
To see if you are approved to bid, sign in. Click "Bid Live!" "My Live! Auctions". Look for the auction title under "My Auctions". In the Approval Status column, you will see "Approved" if you are approved to bid.
How can I inquire about my approval status?
You can send a message to inquire about your approval status. Just follow these steps:
1. Sign in and click "Bid Live!" “My Live! Auctions”.
2. Click the white envelope icon next to the selected sale (at right).
3. Select Bidding Approval from the subject drop-down menu, compose your message, and click Send.
When I clicked Request Approval nothing happened. What should I do?
If nothing happens when you click Request Approval, check to make sure that your browser accepts third-party cookies. You must accept third-party cookies to register and bid in the auction. To accept cookies and complete your registration, you must change the settings in your browser.
Firefox users:
At the top of your browser window, click "Tools" / Options. Click on the Privacy tab. The cookie settings display in the middle of the window. Make sure that "Accept cookies from sites" and "Accept third party cookies" are both checked. Click OK.
Internet Explorer users:
At the top of your browser window, click "Tools" / Internet Options. Then click on the Privacy tab. Click Advanced. Click the checkbox to "Override automatic cookie handling." Choose "Accept" for both First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies. Click OK, then click OK again.
After you have changed your cookie settings, refresh the page (PC: press F5 on your keyboard / Mac: press command R). Then sign in, and find your auction. Follow the prompts to complete your request for approval to bid. When you click Request Approval, you should see a confirmation of your request.
Have I registered for an auction?
To find out if you have registered for an auction, sign in. Click "Bid Live!" "My Live! Auctions". If you see the auction listed, you have already registered to bid in that sale.
How can I request a higher bid limit?
You can send a message to inquire about bid limit, lot condition, consignments or anything else. Just follow these steps:
1. Sign in and go to "Bid Live!" / "My Live! Auctions".
2. Click the "contact Doyle New York" link or white envelope icon next to the selected sale (at right)
3. Choose a subject from the drop-down menu, compose your message, and click Send.
How can I bid live online in an auction?
To bid live online, sign in. Click "Bid Live!". Find the sale you want to bid in, then click BID NOW! (at right). The Bidding Console will open in a new browser window.
What is a bid limit?
A bid limit is the total amount you are permitted to bid in a sale. You will not be able to place bids beyond your bid limit.
How can I get information on a specific lot?
You can send a message to inquire about bid limit, lot condition, consignments or anything else. Just follow these steps:
1. Sign in and go to "Bid Live!" "My Live! Auctions".
2. Click the white envelope icon next to the selected sale (at right)
3. Choose a subject from the drop-down menu, compose your message, and click Send.
Can I preview the lot description before I bid?
To view the lot description before you bid, visit the Internet catalogue.
My Bids
Where do I view my bids after the auction?
To view your bids after the auction, sign in. Click "Bid Live!" "My Live! Bid History". Click Show Bid History to see the bids placed on a lot.
Lots I Purchased
Where can I view the lots I purchased?
To view the lots you purchased in an auction, sign in. Click "Bid Live!" "My Live! Purchases". All lots you purchased will appear on this page.
How can I request information about the lots I purchased?
To request information about the lots you purchased, sign in. Click "Bid Live!" "My Live! Purchases". Click the white envelope icon next to the selected lot (at right). Choose a subject from the drop-down menu, compose your message, and click Send.
Edit Profile
How can I change my account information?
To change your account information, sign in. Click "My Doyle" "My Information". Make your changes, then click the "Update" button at the bottom. The screen will refresh, and you will see “Thank you. You will receive confirmation of your changes by email shortly."
The Bidding Console
Can I watch the auction without registering?
To watch a live auction, click the red "Bid Live!" button at the top of the page, then click "WATCH NOW".
I am trying to bid, but the Bidding Console is telling me to "Register to Bid"
You must Sign In first, so that the correct Bidding Console opens (If you open the console before signing-in you will only be allowed to watch the acution). After signing in, click the red "BidLive!" link at the top right of the page. The link to the Bidding Console will now say "BID NOW". If you see "WATCH NOW" refresh the page.
Why can’t I see the Bidding Console?
If you experience any technical problems with the Bidding Console, follow the troubleshooting steps below:
Step 1: Verify your internet connection
Can you get to other websites? Try www.cnn.com
If you cannot connect to the internet contact your Internet Service Provider or your Network expert.
Step 2: Verify you are using the Minimum System Requirements listed below:

Mac
OS: OSX 10.6 with Firefox 8 only

Sorry, we currently don’t support any OS – Browser combinations for Mac except those listed above.
Processor: PPC or Intel

The Artfact Live! Console does NOT support:
OS: Windows 2000 or earlier, Mac OSX 10.4 or earlier
Browsers: Netscape, Opera, AOL
Internet Connection: We do not support dialup or wireless Internet
The BidLive! console does not support iPhone or iPad
Step 3: Verify you have the latest version of Java running on your computer (PC users)
Close down Artfact Live and go to www.java.com to download and install Java (Free Download)
Step 4: Verify Java is ENABLED:
If you are using Internet Explorer, go to View or Tools (depending on your version)–>Internet Options–>Advanced and make sure that "Use JRE 1.6"(or greater) is checked under the Java section.
If you are using Firefox, go to Tools > Options. Click on "Content". Make sure that "Enable Java" and "Enable Java Script" are selected.
Step 5: Clear your browser Cookies and Cache
In Internet Explorer, go to Tools->Internet Options->General and click the "Delete Files" button under the "Temporary Internet files" section. Click OK.
In Firefox, go to Tools->Options->Privacy, and then select "Clear" next to History, Cookies, Cache. Click OK.
If you have verified steps 1 through 5 above – and still cannot load the Artfact Live! bidder console – you may have a Firewall or Security Software conflict preventing the application from loading.
Step 6: Firewall & Security Software conflicts:
Disable your computer's individual Firewall and Security software
Open your virus protection and/or security software and disable the Firewall and/or security software for the duration of the auction.
