With a historian’s eye for the architects of American fashion, and an insider’s knowledge of the personalities on both sides of the camera, Mr. Loring chronicles the story of fashion’s move from Paris to New York, the rise of fashion photography, and Tiffany jewelry as fashion accessory. This lavishly illustrated book, published by Harry N. Abrams, features seventy years of images by the world’s greatest fashion photographers, including Edward Steichen, Richard Avedon, Victor Skrebneski, Francesco Scavullo, Hiro and Patrick Demarchelier, as well as essays by legendary fashion arbiter Eleanor Lambert and the dean of American fashion designers, James Galanos. The book signing will take place at a special exhibition of Doyle New York’s auctions of Couture, Textiles and Accessories and Important Estate Jewelry.
